CES 2013: Vinci adds smart-phone-like Tab MV to its educational-gadget lineup

You've probably handed your tablet or smart phone to your children to entertain them more times than you'd care to think about. But what if you could give your kids a tablet or phone of their own that actually helps them learn, following a real educational curriculum? That's what Vinci has in mind with its new Vinci Tab MV.

The Tab MV is a 5.5-inch Android tablet and unlocked phone; supported networks are GSM- or WCDMA-based, including AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint. The device that can run a variety of educational apps geared toward kids under five years old. It's pre-loaded with several apps and six music videos, and Vinci offers a "safe app" library with over 800 titles. You can add Vinci's more formal curriculum for $69 to $129.

The device also includes a camera and a case, and it's built with tempered glass that the company says can withstand spills. And the safe Vinci environment protects your kids from violent apps, commercials, and in-app purchases. The Vinci Tab MV retails for $250.
