Consumer Reports Appoints Industry Elites to Executive Team

Names Diane Salvatore Senior Director, Content Strategy and Delivery; Christian Nimsky VP, Digital Interactive Products and Services; Brent Diamond VP and GM, Magazine and Newsletter Products

Yonkers, NY – Consumer Reports (CR), the world’s largest independent product-testing organization, has announced three new additions to its executive roster. Media maven Diane Salvatore will take the helm as Senior Director, Content Strategy and Delivery, with Brent Diamond appointed Vice President, Magazine and Newsletter Products and Christian Nimsky named Vice President, Digital Interactive Products and Services.

Salvatore, in her new role, will lead the way in developing and implementing a content strategy for CR’s extensive portfolio of digital and print products and services, including flagship properties Consumer Reports magazine, which has a circulation of more than 4 million, and ConsumerReports.org, the world’s largest subscription-based website with 3.2 million subscribers. She will oversee a team of reporters, editors, and content creators who interact with CR’s army of lab testers covering everything from electronics to autos to home and health. An established name in the magazine industry, Salvatore has served as Editor in Chief of such notable publications as Prevention, Ladies’ Home Journal and YM magazines. Salvatore’s team will provide content to digital and interactive products and services (led by Christian Nimsky) and CR’s magazine and newsletter products (led by Brent Diamond).

As Vice President, Digital Interactive Products and Services, Christian Nimsky will be charged with developing and managing CR’s digital interactive products and services, including websites and mobile apps, and of course, the industry leading ConsumerReports.org.  Nimsky arrives with a 12-year history in the digital field, working with large brands particularly in the consumer automotive space. He was responsible for Kelley Blue Book's consumer-facing digital business and was one of the early employees at Edmunds.com where he worked on their consumer internet presence, their True Market Value pricing products and a variety of industry-facing products.

Brent Diamond joins CR as Vice President and General Manager, Magazine and Newsletter Products. A seasoned group publisher, Diamond will tap his expertise in circulation marketing and consumer-centric information publishing to grow mature products for CR and launch new ones in both digital and print formats. He brings an extensive background in consumer-enthusiast media, leading such iconic brands as Powder magazine and Surfer magazine during his tenure at Primedia, Times Mirror and Beckett Media.

“Diane, Christian and Brent’s arrivals position us to build the new Consumer Reports,” said Laurence Bunin, Chief Operating Officer of Consumer Reports.  “Their breadth of experience combined with a capacity for fresh ideas – along with what has always made Consumer Reports a trusted resource for consumers – will be essential in making our products, content and services even more compelling in a complex, information-intensive marketplace.”

The trio joins CR at a time of exciting transformations and developments within the organization.  During a challenging period in publishing, CR continues to thrive:  Consumer Reports magazine has a circulation of more than 4 million, including newsstand; ShopSmart magazine (launched in 2007) averages over 100,000 monthly newsstand copies, and is among the industry’s fastest growing print publications; Consumer Reports on Health newsletter has grown to 670,000 subscribers.  And ConsumerReports.org continues to stand alone as the top subscriber-supporter Web publication – with over 3.2 million subscribers.

“Consumers’ needs continue to evolve,” said Bunin.  “Consumer Reports is among our nation’s most trusted and favorite brands because we meet consumers precisely where they need us, and because we provide expert, independent advice in a marketplace with a dizzying array of choices.  These are three strong and creative leaders for challenging and exciting times.”

Consumer Reports is the world’s largest independent product-testing organization. Using its more than 50 labs, auto test center, and survey research center, the nonprofit rates thousands of products and services annually.  Founded in 1936, Consumer Reports has over 8 million subscribers to its magazine, website and other publications.  Its advocacy division, Consumers Union, works for health reform, product safety, financial reform, and other consumer issues in Washington, D.C., the states, and in the marketplace.
