In case you thought phones had gotten as large as they ever would, think again: At CES this year was the Huawei Ascend Mate, with a 6.1-inch screen, the largest we've seen on a smart phone.
Consumer Reports phone expert Mike Gikas noted that phone makers are adapting phone design to help make these larger devices more comfortable to use and easy to carry: Screens are stretching to the very edge of the phone, and some feature curved backs that make them comfortable to hold and easier to carry.
Not every phone is 6-plus inches, but, says Gikas, the "new small" screen size is 4 inches.
