CES 2013 preview: What's ahead for computers and tablets

When Microsoft launched Windows 8 just a couple of months ago, most computer manufacturers released a slew of new PCs. As a result, there will probably be fewer new products launched during CES. But that doesn't mean there will be no news.

Windows 8 and its touch interface have spurred many hardware innovations, such as convertible laptops that flip to become tablets. More of those should pop up at the show, and we're hoping they'll be less costly and lighter. Look as well for all-in-one desktops that emphasize touch even more than they have in the past.

As for tablets, the big players also all recently updated their offerings. But more Windows 8 models should be showing up, as well as new keyboards and docking stations. We'll also be looking for clever and useful new apps.

Look for all our CES 2013 coverage—previews, show news, and wrap-ups, coming your way soon.
