Baby Jogger City Versa strollers recalled

More than 10,000 Baby Jogger City Versa strollers have been recalled in the U.S. and Canada because the stroller's frame can fail to lock, which can cause the stroller to collapse while it's in use--a fall hazard to the child sitting in it. The stroller costs about $450.

The December 12, 2012 City Versa recall notice says Baby Jogger has received six reports of incidents where the frame failed to lock, although no injuries have been reported.

If you have a Baby Jogger City Versa stroller with a manufacture date between May 15 and August 20, 2012, (the date is printed on the stroller's black plastic side hinge below "Baby Jogger" and "City Versa"), you should stop using it and contact Baby Jogger for a free replacement stroller frame. Baby Jogger can be reached toll-free at (877) 506-2213, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday. You can also email the company at recall@babyjogger.com.

The City Versa is one of several Baby Jogger models on the market today. In August 2009, about 41,000 of the company's popular City Mini single and double strollers were recalled because the stroller's restraint buckle could break or unlatch, and allow the child to fall out. Baby Jogger sent owners a free replacement restraint buckle and installation instructions as a remedy. And in May 2011, about 2,000 Baby Jogger's Jump Seats, meant to attach to their City Elite, City Classic, and Summit strollers, were recalled.
