Corvette vs. 911. The rivalry between Chevrolet and Porsche’s flagship sports cars spans more than half a century, and it has been fodder for more articles than you can possibly count. Since both cars were recently redesigned, we bought one of each for the Consumer Reports fleet to see how their latest incarnations measure up.
After a long and cold winter, test results are finally in. "Talking Cars with Consumer Reports" Episode 35 goes deep into the details of track testing these high-performance coupes.
The engineers Tom Mutchler and Gabe Shenhar are joined by the two technicians that get the numbers for these—and all—test cars, Ryan Pszczolkowski and Joe Veslak. The result is a spirited discussion on the merits and downsides of these iconic cars. You can tell that Ryan and Joe really enjoy their work, with cars like these.
Of course, not everyone can afford the Corvette and 911’s lofty price tags. A well-timed viewer question asks us about what used rear-wheel-drive sports cars we’d choose. Lots of votes go for the Mazda Miata, but many other alternatives come up, including the BMW 3 Series, Ford Mustang, and Honda S2000.
