Our friends at Consumerist recently reported that Express Scripts, which provides prescription drug coverage to thousands of people across the country, was forcing some people with diabetes to switch to a One Touch blood glucose meter, because of a change in its coverage policy. As of this year, the company would only cover supplies for those meters.
In Consumer Reports' latest tests of 25 models, the OneTouch Ultra2, OneTouch UltraMini, and OneTouch VeriolQ had very good overall scores, but were not among the nine we selected as recommended blood glucose meters.
If you’ll be responsible for a substantial portion of the cost yourself, consider the ReliOn Micro from Walmart and the Up & Up Blood Glucose meter. Both were judged Best Buys that offered exceptional value and had a low annual test-strip expense.
