If you thought NPR produced only radio waves, think again: We were surprised to see the broadcasting company had a booth at CES 2014, but sure enough, we found a cool gadget there. The NPR Labs Nipper One is a telecommunications device designed to bring emergency radio broadcasts to the hearing-impaired; it translates the messages into onscreen text and flashes alert lights.
