Full-sized Chevrolet Camaro Hot Wheels edition brings out the inner child

The Camaro been offered in numerous special editions and treatments through the years, with many going on to adorn museums and inspire muscle-car enthusiasts. Like the recent Transformers package, the Hot Wheels edition is certain to bring out the inner child with Camaro enthusiasts.

It is fitting that this would be introduced at the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show now underway in Las Vegas. Each year, this mega-event showcases the latest automotive aftermarket components from more than a thousand companies, with hundreds of project vehicles demonstrating their application. This is truly a fantasy toy store for car enthusiasts, and this production model is a fitting addition.

2013-Chevrolet-Camaro-Hot-Wheels-Edition-r.jpgAssembled from largely off-the-shelf parts, the Hot Wheels treatment can be given to a coupe or convertible, starting with either a 2LT (V6) or 2SS (V8) trim. The exterior is dressed up with a ZL1 front upper grille, two-tone matte hood graphic, fender flame graphics, ground effects kit, ZL1 rear spoiler (coupe only), and 21-inch wheels with a red outline stripe. The finishing touches are the obligatory Hot Wheels logos in the grille and on the rear decklid.

Inside, the cars are swathed in black leather, accented with red stitching and Hot Wheels logo. There is a flame graphic on each door, and Hot Wheels logo on the door sill.

All versions come standard with the Chevrolet MyLink infotainment system.

For kids, big and small, this is a head-turning nod to the Camaro being immortalized as one of the original 16 Hot Wheels cars made in 1968.

The Hot Wheels car will be produced during the first quarter next year for a limited run. It carries a package premium of $6,995. There is no indication that it will be delivered in a blister pack.
