Amazon Black Friday sales start on Nov. 19th, and Gold Box deals are back

We're still weeks away from having to figure out what size turkey we need to buy this year—but some retailers are already focusing on Black Friday, that all-important post-Thanksgiving shopping holiday that seems to send some shoppers into a buying frenzy. For those reluctant to head out to the malls, Amazon.com will celebrate the event this year with a Black Friday Deals Week that starts on Monday, November 19th.

Amazon hasn't revealed any details of its planned sales, but says that it will have deals and sales throughout every day of the event, which runs through Friday, the day after Thanksgiving. Last year Amazon's Black Friday deals started earlier, at the beginning of November.

If you can't wait until then, you can now take advantage of the popular Amazon Gold Box deal events, which include Deal of the Day, Lightning Deals, and Best Deals. To make things easier, you can sign up for daily e-mails about the Gold Box deals (via the Gold Box tab on the upper part of the page), or by "liking" Amazon on Facebook to get daily deal updates, news on new items, and info on Black Friday deals when they're released. Another option is signing up for Amazon's Twitter feed.

We expect other retailers—both online and storefronts—to follow suit with Black Friday news. Walmart, Kmart, and Toys "R" Us have already come out with their toy "wish" catalogs and circulars, but they typically wait until closer to Thanksgiving to reveal their Black Friday sales. (Walmart has another issue this year, as workers at some stores have threatened to strike on Black Friday over issues such as wages and the right to organize.)

Last year, Walmart, Best Buy, and Target all had aggressive prices on TVs during their Black Friday sales, and we expect these, and other retailers, to hit new lows on bigger-screen TVs this year.

As usual, we'll be monitoring all the Black Friday ads and promotions to pick out what we believe are the best deals, so stay tuned for our continued coverage of Black Friday, as well as other sales right through the final days of the holiday buying season.
