Without spending a dime here's your chance to try an interior paint that performed impressively in Consumer Reports' tests and is recommended. Ace Hardware is offering you a free quart of its Clark+Kensington Flat Enamel paint on Saturday, March 9. Here's what you need to know.
Print the online coupon, fill it out, and bring it to your local Ace Hardware. You might want to get there early as the offer is good while supplies last and that's about 40 quarts per store, on average. You can even have the paint tinted, choosing from 118 Clark+Kensington colors, Ace's palette, or bring in a sample of your favorite hue and they'll match it. But there's a limit of one free quart per household for the year.
In our tests the Clark+Kensington Flat Enamel, $30 per gallon, was impressive at hiding and superb at resisting stains and scrubbing, but like many flat paints wasn't very resistant to gloss change after aggressive cleaning. However, this paint leaves a smooth finish and because of its resistance to fading, works well in sunny areas. And like many of our recommended paints it lets you skip priming. You can paint directly over old finishes, bare wood, and wallboard. One coat should be enough to hide most colors beneath but even so, a second coat adds richness and results in a more even finish.
Take a look at our Ratings to find out how Clark+Kensington's satin and semigloss finishes performed in our tests, along with Behr, Benjamin Moore, Valspar, and other popular brands.
