Ariens 920014 snow blower recalled due to fire hazard

Briggs & Stratton has announced the recall of 5,400 Ariens 920014 Snow-Throw snow blowers. A carburetor-bowl nut can allow fuel to escape from recalled units, creating a fire hazard. The Ariens 920014 appears in Consumer Reports' snow blower Ratings.

Ariens dealers and the Home Depot sold the snow blower from August through September 2012 for about $800 to $1000, according to the Consumer Products Safety Commission recall. The unit is 24 inches wide with orange and black coloring. Recalled units have the model number 920014 and serial numbers ranging from 100,000 through 119,039 on an Ariens-brand label on the lower back panel of the product with the warranty code.

There is also a Briggs & Stratton engine model number 13D1370110 F1 labeled on the side of the engine with the serial-number range from 12053000000 through 12071699999. Engines with a circular black marker dot located on the right side of the engine base are not part of this recall.
