Amazon adds HGTV, Food Network, and more to Prime streaming content

If you're a fan of "Cupcake Wars," House Hunters," or "Bizarre Foods," you'll be interested in today's Amazon news: The company has announced a deal to carry shows from Scripps Networks Interactive, which owns Cooking Channel, DIY Network, Food Network, HGTV, and Travel Channel.

As of today, Prime members will be able to watch hundreds of episodes of the network's programming, said Amazon in a press release. For cowboy fans, Amazon also announced on Tuesday that Prime would carry episodes of the FX Network western crime drama, "Justified."

Amazon Prime membership ($79 a year) includes instant streaming of thousands of movies and TV episodes. In our recent survey of streaming-video users, the Amazon Prime service earned kudos for price, suggesting that many readers consider it a "free" perk on top of unlimited two-day shipping, the main membership benefit.

If you're looking for an easy, cheap way to access Amazon Prime and other streaming video services, consider an Internet-connected set-top box.
